Scoutbook will be unavailable for maintenance from 10 AM, CT, on Friday, December 28, through Monday, December 31.  A maintenance page will display while system work is done.  Units that must enter completed rank advancements will have Internet Advancement available.

The Scoutbook database will undergo a transformation to include current, active BSA registrants and advancement information for those who are not currently in Scoutbook.  This is essential to launching Scoutbook on January 1, 2019, as a free platform for all units.

Scoutbook has implemented a  Single Sign On (SSO) process that will allow users to easily create accounts with the same properties as my.scouting accounts.  This will use the same account credentials (username and password) for both platforms.  The value to users is significant and will streamline access.  For details, please click the FAQ Link for the Frequently Asked Questions with a step-by-step guide for use of SSO.  Persons with my.scouting accounts may login with their username and password.

I am locked out of both ScoutBook.com and My.Scouting.Org!! I submitted the problem through email and it was given low Priority. I am using my "Parent" account for now, but I can't do anything.

Am I the only one with this problem???

I am pretty sure my.scouting.org was not changed, your old credentials there should work as long as you were not activated for SSO and changed your password or something like that.

If you cannot login to scoutbook with either your old scoutbook credentials or your my.Scouting credentials, wait a couple of hours they are running another script in Scoutbook.

Our families are logging into their Scoutbook accounts and receiving this message:

"You are not setup yet for the BSA Single-Sign-On (SSO) so your use of Scoutbook is limited. All users who have not setup SSO by Feb 1st, 2019 will no longer be able to use Scoutbook. Setup is easy. Just go to your Scoutbook My Account page and click on the link Setup SSO. You have 43 days remaining."

When you follow the steps that are outlined above and reach the "Setup SSO" link, you then receive the following message:

"Please enter your BSA Member number on the Edit Profile page first."

How do we resolve this issue for parents that do not have BSA Member IDs currently? Even adult partners for Tigers and Lions only require one parent or guardian to be registered and thus one BSA member ID is issued. For all members of the family to continue to stay up to date and be able to check the Pack calendar, they will need access. I read through your FAQ and it does not cover this situation.

Art same here. It would not let me log in, had to run through the rest password. It would not take the temp password that was emailed. Took the 2nd one, I changed it when I logged in, then it told me my password was expired had to change again. Took 3 or 4 times but it seems to be working now.

Is it possible to get a list of expectations of what will be updated during the New Years database update? What updates will we see as the change? My assumption is that we will gain the activation ability back. What else should we be prepared for? Calendar moving out of Beta?, non BSA Leader access? Page incorporation for CSV upload in lieu of IA upload? Inclusion of leader based reporting and tracking for awards and achievements? Page development for council and district visibility into units under their charge based on My.Scouting Role? Community Service automated reporting (CSV vs PDF) at least export? JTE status marking logo on the unit page to indicate how that unit is doing throughout the year? Council and District integrated calendar? MB status and reporting tables, Ship and Crew integration? Inclusion of some of the Add on's to be standard saving at lease some of the (did you install the add on tool yet baseline help line) with "Scoutbook will be unavailable for maintenance from 10 AM, CT, on Friday, December 28, through Monday, December 31. A maintenance page will display while system work is done." We already have people in worried mode about getting all of the advancement stuff entered and as of today gaining the ability to incorporate the SSO. What, summary of changes is there? Hard to be prepared if the action has already taken place. That call the current method react. I don't recall react in the 12 points unless we are taking the point of obedient to mean dominance. Helpful, give a heads up list of things we are actively working on. Just a thought.

Bill: My parents who are not registered but have a Scoutbook account are running in to the same problem. Only about 1/3 of the parents in my Troop have ever been registered in any way with the BSA so they do not have my.Scouting.org accounts and now they are effectively locked out of Scoutbook until BSA IT fixes this glitch.

Please pass on to the IT leadership that parents who are not registered leaders are getting frustrated with all these incomplete changes to BSA systems. One of the parents of a Scout who is dropping out this year told me that she felt we are making it too complicated for parents to have their children in Scouts. That kind of attitude does not bode well for the future of Scouting.

Please make sure your new systems actually work for all users before you take them live.

From what I understand, nothing should have changed for adults without a BSA member number. Are these parents who are having trouble actually registered leaders, or did they otherwise have member numbers in the SB profiles? Have they tried the forgot username and forgot PW buttons?

FYI...not sure if this is addressed anywhere else yet. I just attempted to delete a scout from the roster (I understand this shouldn't be done in 99% of situations, but in this situation I was deleting a duplicate record). Anyway, the confirmation requested by scoutbook is for you to enter your password to confirm you actually want to delete the scout's profile. I entered my my.scouting password and it didn't work, so I entered my scoutbook.com password (i.e. the "old" one) and it allowed me to proceed with deleting the profile. Seems this is a minor oversight on the transition to SSO, so just wanted to bring this to your attention.

When I am logged into my.scouting.org and I open another tab in same browser for Scoutbook I am being forced to re-enter my credentials. System is not passing authentication between sites as would be expected from an SSO implementation and is instead behaving as if all that's happened is that the username/passwords have been changed to be the same in both systems and are now being synched in the back end.

Typical with SB these days. I have several parents and scouts that can no longer log on to SB. I have tried to set my son's account up for SSO, however, my.scouting.org won't allow him to have an account because he is not 13 years old. So, in essence, they make you set up a my.scouting.org account to have access to SB but then younger scouts can't get a my.scouting.org account anyway. I tried a work around and changed his birthdate by one year and was able to set up an account. However, that assigned him a new BSA ID# so he still can't have the account. Great job SB! I have emailed SB several times in the past two years about IT issues and have never had anyone contact me.

Does anyone know of a good work around for this issue with individual Scout accounts??

    Steve,
The development team is aware of issues with youth < 13 and actively working them. For now just hang tight.

The issue is because as you discovered myst does not allow accounts for youth <13 and SB does because the parent controls the creation of it. They are working the issue and know how they will fix it.

Bill: Please let the development team know that I appreciate their quick work in fixing the non-registered parent issue. Also thank them for fixing the Boy Scout History issue at the same time. Last week was frustrating because we were finishing up recharter and preparing to send the Troop to Winter Camp.

Not corrected. I am the advancement chair and cannot access scoutbook because of these upgrades. When I try to change the email to the 1 I want, it says already in use by another. ( that is me). When I enter my BSA number, it says linked to another acct. Which is the Gmail acct that I want. It will not let me in.

There is work being done today to resolve some of the login issues.

Resetting your password often clears up any issues.

If folks are having issues logging in, I would suggest waiting until Wed. If you still are having issues at that time, please contact Member Care at scoutbook.support@scouting.org Starting Wed 12/26 you can also call at 972-580-2489 between 7 am – 7 pm CT, Monday - Friday.

The FAQ link is not working from the banner.

Also is it possible to get a copy of the test plan you are using for the EOY changes, so we can test also, and report any issues found from the actual usuer end. An issue we are seeing alot is that users can use the SSO from IOS, any idea when that will be fixed?

Help! Old COR trying to re-sign up as we restart our old troop. Signs in to My Scouting, it asks him if the info is the same, he clicks yes, it bounces him back to the portal page. If he clicks "Make New Profile" it sends him back to the portal page. He needs to take the YPT so he can submit his application. Is anyone else having this problem?

The SSO FAQ instructions just don't work or at least I am not seeing what I am supposed to be seeing in terms of linking my two accounts. Honestly this whole thing is just a giant mess and asking all of our parents to do this when it ought to be fixed by the site administrators on the back-end is very unfortunate.
