HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We at Scoutbook are excited about the upcoming year and wish you all have a wonderful year. We anticipate a busy and productive year here at Scoutbook and, as always, will keep you up to date with plans and changes on this blog. So keep checking here for news and information!
DEN AND PATROL ACCOUNTS BEING DISCONTINUED
Den and Patrol subscriptions are being phased out. All active subscriptions will remain active until the subscription expires. Note that these subscription types cannot participate in the Youth Advancement Sync and starting February 1, 2018 will no longer be able to approve advancements. Please contact us if you would like a free upgrade to a Pack or Troop account. Send an email to: Scoutbook.support@scouting.org
YOUTH ADVANCEMENT SYNC REMINDER
All Scoutbook units must be active on the Sync by January 31, 2018. Starting February 1, 2018, units with active Scoutbook subscriptions will only be able to approve advancements for Scouts who are in the Advancement Sync. If you have not activated your unit and Scout within the unit, you will not be able to approve advancements for that Scout.
The user guide on activating the Sync is here: http://bit.ly/syncadv If you have any questions about the Sync please send an email to: Scoutbooksync@gmail.com.
REMINDER: As you activate the Sync, if there are Scouts that have not yet been registered (entered into ScoutNet or My.Scouting) you can un-approve those Scouts in Scoutbook and continue setting up the Sync for the rest of your unit. Once registration is complete for the outstanding Scouts you can then approve them, activate them for the Sync from the Scout account page, and they will then be included.
ADDITIONAL REPORTS RELEASED
Scoutbook has release 2 new reports for Cub Scouts. The new reports appear on the Reports link as appropriate for unit type and access level.
Cub Scout Recognition Report: Like the Boy Scout Recognition Report, this report can be used to prepare for recognition events such as a Pack Meeting. Options include a date range, showing any awards outside the date range if they are not marked awarded, show all approved awards inside the date range, even if they are marked awarded. Several sort options are provided. The report can be displayed on the screen (formatted for desktop or mobile), dumped to either PDF or CSV.
There is now an Activity Log report that gives you a report on Service Hours, Camping and Hiking. It can be found on the Pack, Troop, and Crew pages under Reports. The report is also available for individual Scouts from their Reports menu, and for Dens and Patrols. Users that have a View Advancement connection permissions to all Scouts at the desired level (Unit, Den/Patrol or Scout) will see a new Activity Log link under Reports.
For Venturers we now have a Venturer History Report. The Venturer History Report, like the Boy Scout and Cub Scout History Reports displays the history of the Scout's Venturing career. The Venturer History Report is available if the Scout has either a current or past membership in a Venture Crew listed on his/her Scoutbook membership page. Boy Scout History Report and Cub Scout History Report are also available to male Venturers from their Reports menu.
Don’t forget to try out some of the other reports that came out recently:
• Boy Scout History Report
• Cub Scout History Report
• Boy Scout Recognition Report
• Payment Log Report
• OA Eligibility Report
• Unit Advancement Report – Sync’d version
And we aren’t done yet! You should expect to see more reports rolling out in 2018!
If you run into any issues with the reports, or if you would like improvements, please post them on the Scoutbook Forums, here: https://www.scoutbook.com/mobile/forums/
1. Subscriber creates a trial unit subscription.
2. Then send an email to: scoutbook.support@scouting.org and include the pertinent details, including boy's names, den/patrol identification, unit type and number, council name, etc.
3. Member care will edit the unit's trial subscription and enter the same expiration date and number of Scouts as the den subscription.
It only shows Wood Badge. Some units like to recognize their Wood Badge trained leaders so it was included on the report.
Please report these issues in the forums where someone can better help you.
There are no plans on providing a general document storage area for units in Scoutbook at this time. The direction of BSA IT is to go paperless as much as possible. You should see this more and more in future releases of different tools.
What is the status of any functionality serving this arm of the national program?
Unfortunately, I see that January 2018 looks like January 2017.
The following is in QA testing now:
Scout App (Be A Scout)
An app for Scouts and Parents to use that works on-line and off-line and interfaces with Scoutbook data. App is available on iOS and Android devices. Initial release will contain the following:
---- Scout and Parent access
---- View profile
---- Track advancement progress
---- Update hiking, service, and camping logs
---- View unit events
---- Access based on registration
Scoutbook will not allow you to have a Scout in 2 packs or 1 pack and 1 troop. You will need to pick one and use it to track advancement. It will let you have a Scout in 2 troops.

(I agree with Ed’s point. This is partly my own curiosity and partly wondering about implementation if Scoutbook ever allows dual registered Cub Scouts.)
Admins are assigned just like leaders. Click on the leader's name on the roster then add the Unit Admin role to their list of positions.
BSA Member #: The BSA Member Number already exists under another user account in Scoutbook. Please check the number or try to remove the number from the other account first.
I am not able to obtain access to the other account, its been grayed out.?
I have total full control, I am the Membership Coordinator, and maintin the ScoutBook Updates etc.,
Please Advise.

There's a short video on how to move Scouts into a patrol or between patrols at the following link:

If that doesn't fix your issue, send me an email with your contact information and the issue to SUACInformation@gmail.com
To
Recommend that the OA eligibility report include youth who are already members
https://www.scoutbook.com/mobile/forums/
However, there is a Feature Assistant Extension for Scoutbook that has an OA Membership Report feature (for youth):

Closed purchase orders do not show scouts that are not active in our roster! Looking months and years past. This is a problem!
