Will the availability of switching the boys to different patrols be available again? That option disappeared months ago.

Mark - what are you referring to exactly ? And is your post truly scout like ?

Is there a new target date? We moved over in June based on the August date. I need to determine if we need to re-up Troopmaster for another year.

We have not been given a new target date but the development teams are working as quickly as possible to correct the issues and get sync released.

Maybe not a date, but is it potentially a week or two? A month, six months...a year? Just a rough idea of how serious the problem is would be awesome if you can provide any insight.

The team is actively working the sync. There are a lot of systems involved and the team is finding issues unrelated to SB that need to be fixed. They are working through them now. After they are fixed there will need to be further testing. We can't give a firm date of the general deployment at this time.

Bill ... Not asking for firm date. Just a projection of week, month, year ... a concept of how long it will be.

David W, does Troopmaster sync automatically? I thought you had to send the file like you currently do with Scoutbook...

From my understanding, the other software does the "create file, upload file, etc...." in the background, maybe during a press of a button. It is the same process as it is now, just that you do no "see" it or have to "hands-on" deal with it. SB will be a much better option. Think of it as giving a thumbs up or down to a song on Pandora, it instantly either saves it as your favorite or removes it from your playlist, no extra steps.

Anyone know if one of the core issues was during the process it messed up some calendar functions? I could've sworn we had stuff loaded and then they disappeared. Just curious if it's something like a compounding or layered issue that we need to be on the look out for. Thanks for the update.

Gabe, we are not aware of any such issues with the calendars.

Garry and Peter, its very hard to say how long it will take to correct all of the bugs and retest everything. We don't have much visibility into the actual development.

Peter, it all depends on how many issues, if any, are detected after this round of updates is completed. The team is working very hard on finishing the sync. What we can say is that it is being actively worked and not put on the back burner to be worked later. If things go well, we will expand the pilot later next week, if we find more issues in the testing, then those would have to be fixed prior to expanding the pilot.

What does pilot mean - meaning only a select group of users will have access, or will this be rolled out to all users? My pack is a new customer and I have all our scouts in (80) without rank. I do have the profiles set up and ready to go with BSA numbers. I would like to be a part of the pilot when it rolls out this week or next. thanks,

Alex, the pilot is currently limited to a small number of units and will be expanded once all bugs are fixed.

In your case, I'd do a scoutnet import by going to your troop page > edit troop. Scroll down to the scoutnet import section.

Hi, I understand the rollout is on hold. In the meantime, is there a best practices or training that I (and hopefully our new advancement chair) can refer to? I am having a hard time understanding what information I need to enter where and how to transition to the new scouting year (moving boys from old to new dens).

Just wanted to see if you found more issues in the testing or if there is an update? I am in the same boat as many here that have been pushing really hard within my unit because of the benefit of the automatic sync, but now we are dancing between 2 solutions (Scoutbook/Troopmaster) and we are anxious to have this feature working. Also, how long is the pilot phase before it is released for everyone? Please let me know if you have an update. Thank you for your time.

We expect to resume the pilot this week. Then everything is dependent on what we find. We want this to be as clean as possible when we release it widely, but things are looking very good right now.

@Bill Nelson that is good news. We wish everyone the best of luck. Hopefully once this very complicated project is complete and realsed, focus can be turned to several small simple projects that will make life much easier. Like improved reporting.

We are working on reporting now. The Boy Scout Individual Advancement Report update and the Boy Scout History reports were released last week, and a Cub Scout History Report is due to be released soon.
They will be followed by a number of other advancement reports.

Can you please specify if we are to continue using the internet advancement tool to produce the PO?
I was under the impression that last month the advancements chair uploaded the advancements through scoutbook to Scoutnet and we had issues.
Should we go back to the old system until the bugs are fixed?

Yes, until we release the sync to your Pack and your pack activates the sync, you are to continue to use the PO to create the Internet Advancement file; and upload the file to Internet Advancement.

It is still a few weeks out.

Happy to see this moving again. Please try to streamline all the sites and blogs giving status on this. This site is about the 4th I have seen on the topic, and of course the one I like the best because someone is saying the pilot is progressing again.

Joy, the Key Three for a pack consists of Chartered Organization Representative, Committee Chair, and Cubmaster.

Brian, what are some of the other sites you are referring to? I'd take this one as he truth, since the blog is written by BSA employees who are actively involved in Scoutbook.

@Bill Nelson. I saw you made a comment a couple of days ago that said you will release the sync to the units and the units have to activate the sync. How will this happen will we receive an email in regards to it the sync and how will we know if our unit has activated the sync

Bill Nelson and Scoutbook user team. If you haven't already identified a beta test user group for your next patched release, could my Council or even my Pack be considered? We have a fairly large pack and would gladly provide detailed technical feedback to the development team. Just an offer, if there is an interest.

All the hard work and delays creating the backbone of the system will be worth it in the end. Thank you for continuing to work on making smart decisions and not using bandaid solutions. This is the tool that will take this organization in to the future. Let's continue to make it a good one.
