Scoutbook Advancement Record Sync with Internet Advancement Pilot Update

I have been able to sync using a Mac computer without issue. I am hoping that what you are doing won't affect that as I have not been able with windows computer. Mac works just fine like the time savings.

The sync reference in the blog post is a 2 way sync with the BSA's databases. What you are probably doing is a ScoutNET roster import, not a sync.

I just set up the whole pack on a iPhone.... ! Took less than an hour ... working on leadership now

I hope the Scoutbook Advancement Record Sync with Internet Advancement will allow a scout to be Duel registered in 2 different scout units. I have 2 sons that are enrolled in an LDS unit (which uses Scoutbook), and a traditional community scout unit (which does not use Scoutbook primarily due to the fact that ScoutBook is not set up to acknowledge duel registered scouts. The community troop has multiple scouts that are duel registered with their individual LDS units in our area, and since the LDS units here are all using Scoutbook, that means the community scout unit is unable to use Scoutbook. Is this being addressed?

Will this system provide detailed error messages so we know what the problem is when a sync doesn't go through for an individual scout? Right now it's a guessing game with Internet Advancement. Is it birthdate? Name typo or use of a nickname instead of legal name in scoutbook? BSA number? Do we have the scout but their application isn't processed by Council yet? I'd love detailed error messages for all issues so we can fix the specific issue to allow all scouts to sync automatically.

I second Nick. Is this possible?

When a unit goes through the sync activation process, all scouts will be checked to ensure their profiles contain the correct data to be able to sync. The unit will not be able to complete the process until all scouts approved (green shield) in Scoutbook are able to be synced. After the unit is activated, new scouts can only be enabled for sync after their profile data matches so that the sync will be successful.

More details will be provided when two way sync is released from the closed beta test.

Just curious as to how the rollout is going?

About how many units are you adding weekly & what is the projected time frame to enroll all units?

Donald, we are still in the pilot. The pilot units have identified a number of items that need to be corrected prior to a full roll-out. We are in the process of correcting the items and retesting.

Okay, thanks. I was just going off the above post that said that they were going to start rolling out to random units in June.

Scoutbook Advancement Sync to ScoutNET Rollout

Overview

A project has been in the works to provide the ability to sync Scoutbook advancement records with ScoutNET. We?re excited to announce that this project was completed and tested, and is now ready to roll out to units starting June 27th. This means you no longer need to access Internet Advancement for those units currently using Scoutbook!

Timeline

The rollout will be done weekly to allow us to monitor and control the number of transactions processed during the implementation. We currently have a list of approximately 160 Scoutbook units that have requested to be activated in the first phase. Thereafter, additional Scoutbook units will be activated each week with the intent of having all Scoutbook units activated by July 25th. After this date, any new units who subscribe to Scoutbook will automatically be activated for the sync.

Once national sets a Scoutbook unit to active, the unit is eligible to participate. Each unit Key 3 will then receive a notification with documentation on how to set up the unit for the advancement sync. After the initial steps are completed, all youth advancement records will automatically reflect in ScoutNET within 24 hours. Scoutbook units will no longer need to generate a .csv file from Scoutbook and upload it into Internet Advancement.

This is a huge accomplishment in alleviating and simplifying advancement for our unit leaders.

Units will be contacted as they are activated; it could take a few more weeks for your unit to be contacted.

Please don't call member care asking to be invited to participate. We will get to a point of contacting all units in due time. Remember, patience is a virtue.

Super stoked about this! I have been using Scoutbook with my unit since before it was picked up by BSA national. I love seeing the new advances and convenience measures.

So am I reading this right in that as a ScoutBook Pack for the last two years we will be reached out to by ScoutBook sometime in July to have this setup or do we still need to request?

I would like to know if we still need to request, or will it be added automatically?

Units will be enabled automatically for sync. Once enabled, your unit admins will receive an e-mail and be able to activate sync for your unit.

My name is Elizabeth and my son Ezra is in Troop 236 and I, along with our family, just wanted to thank everyone who helps to make this ScoutBook possible!:)
I know that our Troop 236's very own Doc Goodwin kept sending the emails to everyone to register to login; of course, Mr. Roger Bardsley very kindly spent time helping us and others to register. However, as a parent I cannot thank each and everyone of you all enough!

I work overseas and even though I miss most all of the big events with my children back home at least if I miss a Court of Honor ... I can still see Ezra's rank advancement right here in Riyadh, from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia -- too cool! (even when it is 122 F outside)

Once again, thank you so very much all of you amazing scout leaders you! Please know how very much your selfless works are appreciated -- both here and abroad!

How is the roll out going. anxiously awaiting our turn. it would be nice to get periodic updates on the progress of units coming on board. the wait is a bit like a sailing ship being stranded in the doldrums wondering what will come first wind or dehydration.

I am having a hard time doing the Unit Setup. What key things do I need to do? I have the key 3 as Troop Admin and so what else do I need to do.

Has anyone done the sync and been successful using a Scoutbook report to buy rank patches etc.? Our scout shop has made it pretty clear they want Internet advancement reports. I've had numerous glitches with both Scoutbook and Internet advancement and I worry if we do the sync I will spend more time cleaning things up than entering the advancements in the first place (not to mention I have some leaders who go in and approve things for their own kids/patrol, which makes it hard to see what actually needs approving and purchasing.

Our troop has been using the Scoutbook Advancement Sync for awhile now with no issues and submitted multiple advancements to council using the Scoutbook Unit Advancement form. All Scout Shops across the county have been notified by national to accept the form from Scoutbook sync'd troops.
