We have been receiving a lot of emails/blog posts/calls regarding Scoutbook Units and the use of Internet Advancement.

As a reminder; even though the Scoutbook Advancement Record Sync is now in production. We will be running the sync with pilot units and will not be opening it up to all units until the pilot group signs off.

Once we open up for all units - there are validation steps that will need to be completed for the sync to begin. Communication regarding these steps and additional sync information will be distributed once we are ready. That being said - units that are using Scoutbook today will continue importing advancement data into Internet Advancement until those steps have been completed and your unit is verified.

We at National were trying to let the Scout Shops know this change was coming ahead of time so that they could be prepared when the pilot units came in with Scoutbook reports. We are truly sorry that this has caused confusion. We appreciate your continued support.

The SUAC has said previously that the pilot is internal right now. Probably gonna be like Online Registration that rolls out overtime.

It will go live ASAP and not a moment sooner. I know most want this faster than ASAP, me included, but testing is important and reliability ushers possibility. IMHO, we would like it much less if a sync went horribly wrong and mixed up data or worse, lost data. Reentering 40 scouts worth of data isn't something I want to do twice within a few months.

I have parents telling me that blue cards are no longer required eg camps and colleges will handle everything electronically. Neither boys nor advancement chair will ever receive a blue card. Tell me this is not true?

Raylene, once your unit is set up in Scoutbook, all you should need is the unit's Password for Internet Advancement. Please talk to your unit's Advancement Processor (usually this person is also the Advancement Chair / Advancement Coordinator).
