Happy New Year!! I hope you all had an enjoyable holiday with friends and family.
The Scoutbook team has been hard at work over the holiday period and into the first two weeks of the year adding the new 2016 Boy Scout requirements, continuing to update the 2015 Cub Scout program, and making Scoutbook faster and more reliable. More details further down.
We continue to work toward our ultimate goal of making Scoutbook the one place for units to track all of their activities. We want to eliminate the dual data entry and data synchronization with other BSA systems, creating a simple, seamless experience for you and your Scouts.
And for that, we need your help.
Please ensure your Scoutbook profiles for all youth and adults contain
Also, for each unit leader, please create an account on my.scouting.org
And now, here are the details of recent Scoutbook updates.
The team is working on the following for release soon:
Many packs, troops, etc. are interested in a solution to financial
tracking for their units. Why try to design new software in Scout Book If you can consider Quicken Basic Software for inclusion as an OEM package in/ or with Scout Book you would be leaps and bounds ahead in availability for the Scouting Family. Contact Mr. Eric Dunn at Intuit in Mt. View, CA. I am sure he or an associate will be interested in your problem.
Bon chance!
Is BSA going to give you more resources to work on the updates? There are many things that applications like Troop Master offered that Scout Book has yet to address - reporting is a key area for additions as an example.
Really like the app, but we are getting pressure because we migrated and the advancement chair cannot do their job without manually tracking items that would be normal reports in other products.
As for those who continue to ask about when things are coming, please be patient. There is only so much that can be done at one time and I fell that things are being proritized in the correct order. My understanding is that Scoutbook was purchased to be the My.Scouting.org section for advancement. Anyone who wishes for Scoutbook to be something more(for example, an accounting software) probably needs to look for these tools elsewhere.
Best in scouting!
I appreciate the investment and hard work to improve the system and encourage eventual enhancements to include accounting and finance. The suggestion to integrate with Quicken is extremely appealing.
Has anyone put together a PPT deck to pitch Scoutbook? As the only user in my district, I'm presenting for 10 minutes to group from several units in my area this weekend who wants to learn more. I don't want to duplicate work that's already done.
Should we b doing this differently? It seems to work best this way.
So, there are signs that Lion Cubs is getting closer to becoming a national program, I don't believe it is there yet.
Thanks
Tasha
The Venturing Module is not yet a part of Scoutbook. BSA is still looking at the timeline for rounding out current modules and further program updates. There is not YET a timeline for Venturing, Sea Scouts, or Varsity being added to Scoutbook. Any discussion about current Venturing Module usage within Scoutbook is referring to a 20-Unit PRE-Beta that exists from prior to the BSA Acquiring Scoutbook. That PRE-Beta has not moved forward since that time.
Thanks for the information.
2. Stake report maker to include all units or any subsection or rank or age.
3. Would really like phone number for a help desk

Ah, but, Steve, there's always something to report. A report stating there is nothing to report is itself a report. I'm sure the (likely small) team is very busy and I applaud them for focusing on the work.
There have been reports in the forum that if a leader is 100% trained but doesn't get the trained indication, you can delete YPT from his training record in Scoutbook then resync training. This will restore the trained patch for that leader.
Hope is restored. Updates and communication can't come fast enough for this great tool!
With lions being only a pilot program it's not tracked in Scoutbook. I don't know if they are in IA for piloting councils/units, but even if it were I wouldn't expect a sync between the two.
Unless you mean it's breaking the sync for the other scouts as well? Can you clarify what you mean?
Also, maybe post in the Bugs forum to help get more visibility to your problem.

I do however work closely with Bob Scott and the team and am hopeful 2016 will be the year of some big improvements to Scoutbook!
Please...give me something positive to say to them...
