Happy New Year!  The Scoutbook team hopes that you and your families have been, and will continue to enjoy a great holiday season.

On Monday, 12/28, the Scoutbook team changed the server supporting emails and event reminders.  Tuesday mid-day we became aware that certian internet providers had issues with the new IP address and were denying service for emails and reminders.  We have reverted to the old email server and THE SITUATION HAS BEEN CORRECTED.

At this point we believe this was limited to those using AT&T, Verizon and SBC Global and affected a time period from mid-morning on 12/28 to 11pm Central on 12/29.  Emails and reminders sent during this period on these services may have been lost.

RECOMENDATION:  If you sent emails or had reminders set for the affected period, confirm receipt with one or more of the intended receipients and take the needed action to resend emails or reschedule reminders.

The team appoligizes for any inconvienence this situation may have caused and wishes you and your families a health and happy 2016 full of fun Scouting experiences!!

I'm still very new to this website, but am looking for some assistance. It seems Google calendar will not accept a cut&paste of your URL address into their program to import your .ical data - seems you need to first download a file and then import the file into Google calendar. Am I doing something wrong here or is there a fix for this problem?

    Really confused here.

Ok, like I just said, I'm still very new to this website and calendar-ing effort. However, I did find the instructions for adding the Scoutbook calendar for my Pack to our Google calendar via the URL address. Here's the instructions I found:

1.On your computer, open Google Calendar.
2.On the left side, find "Other calendars" and click the down arrow .
    3.Select "Add by URL".
4.Enter the calendar's address in the field provided. The address needs to be an ICAL link.
5.Click Add calendar. The calendar will appear on the left side under "Other calendars."
Note: It might take up to 12 hours for changes to show in your Google Calendar.

Afterwards, you can click on the calendar's down arrow and change the name of the calendar in the calendar settings.

(Sometimes I just want to give the Homer Simpson, . . "D'ooh".)

This is probably not the right string for this question but it relates to email so I will beg tolerance for the slight change of topic. If there is a better place to point this inquiry please let me know. I would like to email individual boy advancement records directly from Scoutbook to parents. I see a way to generate a pdf file report and a way to send a message. But this process requires creating the report, saving the report and then attaching the saved file to a message. It would be great to select messages in the Message form and then send the message with a report for each boy associated with the parent recipients. Does this exist??
    Thanks.

I posted an event with reminders on Sunday 1/3 and the whole event was missing this AM. This happened early December as well - even after I got 2 RSVP's. In December I noticed another den leader had posted their whole year's events after my post, but that was on another calendar (orange flag vs. gray). I reposted today and it is clearly on my den calendar. What might be happening?

Bob and Shawn, given the recent issues with email and deliverability, I'll renew my offer to chat about integrating with an email service provider (Salesforce Marketing Cloud). I've personally built an integration for our Pack, and my background is in solution architecture and systems integration for some of our largest senders (billions of emails a day). Salesforce offers free and/or discounted software to non-profit entities and I'd be happy to help and sponsor the BSA. Feel free to reach out if you're interested in talking options.

@Debbie - could you post the issue in the bugs forum and provide more detail of where the event went missing. Was it on the list of events, or the calendar view ? Thanks

For our unit email reminders does not work and was wandering if there was a texting option to send those reminders. In this rural area all of our unit does not even have a computer but smart phones are there. however they might look at a text but never dheck an email.
