Happy Monday, late again.

I blogged about the 12/7 release and its aftermath and correction last week so let's talk about what released today.  We continue to focus on two areas this week - security and site performance.

If you saw the change log (https://www.scoutbook.com/mobile/forums/change-log/9428/councils-and-districts/) this morning you noted that we took the profile photos and names of Scoutbook users in your councils off of the council page.  The code that supported this functionality had the opportunity to be vunerable to external attacks.

Work on database and site performance has continued.  Statistics shows that this work is paying dividends - database response is 67% faster last Tuesday (typically our peak day) versus prior Tuesdays and page load time has been improved by almost 50%.  We hope you have been noticing faster site response over the past couple of weeks.  This work will continue.

As we look towards the holidays and vacation time the development team will be focused on getting the 2016 Requirements for Boy Scouts up and running by 1/4/2015 and our forum counter functionality.  In addition they will continue doing prep work for integration steps which will take place in 2016.

Thanks as always for your support.

Excellent work by the team. While I will miss the photos in the council pages, closing possible risks to data is far more important. Bob, as always it is great to have updated on the work being done. I look forward to more work being done to make scoutbook the unit management tool of choice.

Steve, not OK to show last names on the blog, just not addressed yet. The Scoutbook Development Team is also aware of the full names still showing in the notification emails.

I think we ALL look forward to getting through the BSA review phase that has resulted in some nice features being removed and back into the faster pace of "pre-vetted" feature releases. (I am VERY GLAD that I am not one of the people that have to look through all of this code to assure that Scoutbook is the safest, best, most accurate tool available!)

Here's to the future days when we will all be able to LOOK BACK ON the days when Scoutbook "would only do" such and such things. Imagine that!

2015-12-17. @ Brian re: Varsity Scouting module.

We do not yet know when. Boy Scouting updates need to be completed first since Varisty Scouting advancement is also the trail to Eagle Scout.
For more please see my 2015-12-17 remarks in the Varsity Tracking thread: https://www.scoutbook.com/mobile/forums/varsity-scouting/7862/varsity-tracking/ thread.

    Thanks Much!!

Noted a definite increase in speed, but since the release I cannot go backward by swipe, arrow or click without it freezing or having to reload the home page? Don't know if this is just me or maybe just a Safari thing?

Just please, for the love of God, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT let the team responsible for the my.scouting anywhere near scoutbook.

Scoutbook is so much better, and is user friendly. Unlike my.scouting which is about as useful as an iPhone on Mars.

Wolf Adventure "Code of the Wolf", Requirement 1 in the book days, "Do 1 of the following." On here, it says " Do 2." Please correct this so boys can be properly awarded without having to do extra work.

George, YES. That is explicitly stated in the Insignia Guide.

A female Venturer or adult leader may wear the Girl Scout Gold Award if earned in Girl Scouting. The award should be worn centered on the location of the right pocket flap.

Andrea, upon checking with the BSA Support Team, it has been confirmed that Scoutbook is CORRECT on the Code of the Wolf, Requirement 1. In fact, the misprint is only in one of the two spots in the book you are looking at. In the chapter pages, it says do TWO but on the checklist it says do ONE. All other documents leading up to the manual being released with two different directives,

BSA said it is on the agenda to correct this typo (of "1") in the next version.

Just curious has anymore thought been given how to Include Den Chiefs. We are having significant issues with Den Chiefs missing events in our pack because they can not get emails, and can not log in to check the calendar.

I agree with Jim Boone, we have been very very patient! When will the Venturing Crews be able to utilize this program???!!!???? My crew participated in the beta testing...enjoyed some of the features and provided feedback or things that needed to be addressed. That was some time ago now-we NEED a program for scouts to track service, adventure and awards! Please help.
