With each event you enter into Scoutbook you will be presented with related JTE requirements that you can accomplish at the event. Our Closed BETA is Now Available!

We are rolling out our calendaring system to all Admin's first. This means if you are a Den, Patrol, Pack or Troop Admin you can help us test and give us your feedback before we release the calendar system to everyone else.

Looks great! I found a bug when using the slips button. The screen went black and hung the UI. I had to reload. One suggestion on the main calendar is to activate all the groups (Den, Pack, etc....) by default, otherwise you don't see your event on the calendar after you create it. Took a minute to figure out that you needed to select the gear in the corner to activate the groups.

Maybe I just need some more coffee but how do I create a calendar to select? When I go into Create Event, the first field asking to choose one or more calendars has nothing in the list to choose from and I can't find a way to create a new calendar to use.

I'm able to select our Den calendar when I view "My Calendar" but I can't find a way to add an event since I can't choose the calendar to use.

2 Possible Bugs:
1) Event Type is not selectable--nothing is in the drop down list
2) Calendar drop down only includes the Pack and 2 out of the 3 dens; I am also admin for our troop and I don't see our troop or patrols as optional calendars.

Is it possible to put in events that are done already? I wanted to do some testing and was going to add a couple events that we did this past year that are already past. I wanted to put in the event and then record attendance. It let me create the event, but then when I went to go back into it I can't find it. I made sure that my calendar was showing all of the events, Pack and Den events, but I still don't see it. It was a summer hike created on June 1, 2013. I tried it twice and it didn't work either time.

There is no where to enter a start time or end time. Can this be added? Most of our events don't run all day long so a start time and end time are critical.

I would love to see the Scoutbook logo and QR code on each reminder email that's generated so the family can go directly to the calendar and / information. This would draw the hold outs back to Scoutbook and possibly get them interested.

I really don't understand the RSVP section. I did a test event but don't understand how each participant RSVPs to the event. I don't see that it happens via a link and can only assume that the must reply to the invite email with a yes, no or maybe. I then assume that the administrator must then go back in and enter each participants status. Is this how it's going to work?

@John Larsen - exactly. I've spent the better part of an hour inputting stuff, testing, trying to figure out how this works. Hopefully it will have a link. This would get rid of our current need for survey monkey (which is what we use).

I've had several parents question how they rsvp. They go into Scoutbook but there is no mention of the event in their son's profile (which is all they can see).

Also - if I make a change to an event and save it the rsvp notification is sent. This resulted in three notifications going on on the same event.

Hi Stephen, You can navigate backwards on the calendar and click on the day of the event to enter attendance. If you have a mobile device you simply swipe the calendar and it will show you last month.

We definetely need the ability to sync with google calendars. All our pack and den events are currently on google calendars that show up on our website. I love the ability for Scoutbook to send out reminders but they are only emails so their isn't a popup reminder like a calendar can do. Parents have to purposely check Scoutbook for events, instead of it automatically showing up on their calendar widgets. Once Scoutbook has the ability to at least sync one way to google, then we will start using the Scoutbook events solely, as the feature sets are amazing! Thanks Scoutbook for working hard on this. We can't wait for the Google sync so we can make full use of Scoutbook.

The Calendars and Events features are looking good! A couple of feature requests and +1's:

* Would it be possible to have digital signatures on the permission slips? One of our biggest challenges is getting permission slips completed and submitted in a timely manner. Using this system and having a way to digitally sign them and keep track on who has / has not submitted permission slips would be a huge time saver.
* Formatted RSVP list for printing so it can used for the actual event (and possibly permission slips as per above)
* Capability to add additional / external calendars (e.g. School Calendar, etc.)

My comment/suggestion is related to Janelle Gephart's. Once you select the advancement activities you plant to do at the activity and those at home, I'd love to import that information into the notes that are sent out as reminders.

Using my Android Samsung Galaxy S5 it is difficult to enter a single advancement requirement for an event. When I select for instance Rank Advancement > First Class, it automatically adds the whole set of First Class requirements. Then I have to go back and deselect the ones we aren't working on for that night. It needs a "Check All" and "Uncheck All" option so I can atleast uncheck them all and then select the particular one we're working on for that night.

I've noticed that after entering events in the calendar, if we have a new scout/parent join the group, they are not automatically added to the event under the invitee section - even when it's for their designated den or the pack as a whole. Is this a glitch for everyone or is it something fishy on my end? I have found that I've had to go back into every single den and pack event for the whole year to make sure all new scouts were invited properly.

I suspect, but am unsure, that this is affecting the new scout's ability to see the updates via calendar apps or if their getting the email reminders.

Hi Joshua. We do plan on launching public facing websites for units where the calendar could possibly be displayed. You could also use the ics feed and integrate it into an existing website. Please search the forums for other units who have done this. Thanks!

If someone RSVP's "NO" can you put in a program that stops all additional email reminders from that event from going out to those people. We do 3 reminders and it is annoying to take the time to RSVP "no" and still get reminders.
Can you give Attendance privileges to the Outdoor Activity Coordinator? If they are the POC it would make sense that they can go in and mark attendance for those people who attended.

There does not appear to be a way to add sections of a Webelos Adventure. We did not complete ALL of First Responder, for example, but I can't select parts of First Responder. New Webelos adventures are not available to select unless we add the entire adventure. I also can't get completed advancement tasks to show up on attendees advancement records. There does not appear to be a way to add sections of a Webelos Adventure. We did not complete ALL of First Responder, for example, but I can't select parts of First Responder. New Webelos adventures are not available to select unless we add the entire adventure. I also can't get completed advancement tasks to show up on attendees advancement records. Another question / request on Attendance feature. I can mark attendance for our Den Meetings as a Den Leader, but I can't seem to mark attendance for Pack Meetings on the Pack Calendar. It seems like the way it is now someone else would have to mark attendance. Forgive me if these features have already been requested. Our pack just went through Parent Son camping weekend and I attempted to use the events tool as a main way to organize who was coming. Here are some things I noticed.
-Printing event roster: There should be a way to print a list of the participants that have signed up.
-Communication and reminders: A way to email scouts that have NOT registered with a reminder to register. Right now you have to look at the list and use a separate message unless you want to remind everyone (even those that are registered). Conversely: a way to email participants who HAVE registered without also emailing invitees that have not registered.
-Attach a payment to a registration: We should be able to set a cost for the event and then when someone registers they get an email (automatic or manual) notification about the payment due
-Place within registration for admins to mark items such as permission slips, med forms, etc as completed.

It would be helpful to have an option to add a PDF or a document to the event for a special permission slip or flyer to the event.

When someone posts a message on the event, is there a way it flags you that you have a message waiting without having to go into each event checking to see if there are comments?

I just wanted to let the programmers know that I accidentally cleared all the invites and it wiped all our attendants. I was going back and going to assign credit to the scouts who went on a district camp out and give them a corresponding merit bag. When I was working with it I cleared the attendants. That was really a huge bummer because it was back in May and I can only probably get a few right on who was really there. Maybe a warning to pop up when you click clear " WARNING clear all will clear everyone, are you sure you really want to do this." . Thanks for your guys hard work it has been a life saver for us. Also if there is some chance I can recover that please let me know.

Once the function is used the multiple individual events are not linked, making the back end calendar much more straightforward (invites, attendance, reminders, etc.). It's the setup of a program year worth of weekly meetings that we want to simplify. THANKS!

If you use google chrome, there is an extension called "feature Assistant Extension for Scoutbook". Among other many great features, it adds recurring events. I've been using it to setup our yearly calendar and it has worked great for me. It's not supported by BSA, but its a great work around.
