Your Going to Love Our Newest Creation!
We have been working hard on something we think will really take Scouting to the next level and beyond.
Today we are taking the covers off our latest creation. Say hello to our new Calendaring system!
An Event Calendar Like No Other...
We listened to your requests and responded with a calendar and events module that not only lets you create a schedule of events for your unit, but also integrates 8 other features into one, including Scouting's Journey to Excellence.

Combined Unit Events
RSVP System
Scheduled Reminders
Scheduled Advancement + Home Assignments
Multi-Scout Advancement Quick Entry
Attendance
Print Permission Slips (LDS + BSA)
Journey to Excellence (JTE)
Building Quality Units is our #1 Priority

Scoutbook has integrated JTE into every feature of the site. Now with our calendaring system and planning tools, we are able to show you your projected JTE score right after your annual planning. See how you can improve by incorporating the JTE requirements right into your events. No other system has ever made JTE so easy!
With each event you enter into Scoutbook you will be presented with related JTE requirements that you can accomplish at the event. Scoutbook automatically monitors your selections to make sure you stay focused on planning an excellent activity. By doing a little pre-planning your unit can qualify for JTE's gold award.

It is our hope that every pack and troop that uses Scoutbook will become a better unit and in turn provide our youth with excellent program activities, 100% trained adult leadership and opportunities for each Scout to excel in everything they do.
Our Closed BETA is Now Available!
We are rolling out our calendaring system to all Admin's first. This means if you are a Den, Patrol, Pack or Troop Admin you can help us test and give us your feedback before we release the calendar system to everyone else.
Look in the Events section of your Dashboard
We hope you enjoy using our newest creation. We thank all those how have posted their feedback on our Forums and for your patience while we keep building Scoutbook to meet your needs.
We thank you in advancement for helping us test this new feature!
I'm able to select our Den calendar when I view "My Calendar" but I can't find a way to add an event since I can't choose the calendar to use.
1) Event Type is not selectable--nothing is in the drop down list
2) Calendar drop down only includes the Pack and 2 out of the 3 dens; I am also admin for our troop and I don't see our troop or patrols as optional calendars.
An .ics or equivalent?
It's ideal to allow visibility without having to load scoubook.
Also - if I make a change to an event and save it the rsvp notification is sent. This resulted in three notifications going on on the same event.
Last week we failed to post that the open beta is now available to all users. RSVP is also working.
* Would it be possible to have digital signatures on the permission slips? One of our biggest challenges is getting permission slips completed and submitted in a timely manner. Using this system and having a way to digitally sign them and keep track on who has / has not submitted permission slips would be a huge time saver.
* Formatted RSVP list for printing so it can used for the actual event (and possibly permission slips as per above)
* Capability to add additional / external calendars (e.g. School Calendar, etc.)
+1 Recurring events
Look forward to seeing the features evolve. Keep up the great work!
Thanks!
I love the calendar. Thank you.
Thanks for this it's amazing!
Also need to be able to add sign up slots to the invitation. For example, at Rally night this week I need people to help with paperwork, distributing tshirts, supervising/entertaining potential Scouts, and set up/tear down. I'd like to give folks an option to choose where they'd like to help. So pretty much I want sign up genius functionality within Scoutbook.
I"m not sure if it's set up this way yet, but I"ll need people to be able to RSVP for the number of adults and kids they're bringing - including non-Scouts and additional adult family members. This will be necessary for large events like our Pinewood Derby, Blue & Gold or Graduation where we need an accurate headcount.
I suspect, but am unsure, that this is affecting the new scout's ability to see the updates via calendar apps or if their getting the email reminders.
Great enhancement suggestions above.
Sure hope the following are coming soon:
- Scheduling recurring events
- Expanded rows to see multiple events on the same day
Can you give Attendance privileges to the Outdoor Activity Coordinator? If they are the POC it would make sense that they can go in and mark attendance for those people who attended.
Added Cub Scout adventures to Manage Advancement. Parents and Scouts also see planned adventure requirements from the Scout's adventure pages. They can see which requirements are planned to be completed in a den/pack event and which ones are home assignments.
Removed BETA references from calendar pages.
-Printing event roster: There should be a way to print a list of the participants that have signed up.
-Communication and reminders: A way to email scouts that have NOT registered with a reminder to register. Right now you have to look at the list and use a separate message unless you want to remind everyone (even those that are registered). Conversely: a way to email participants who HAVE registered without also emailing invitees that have not registered.
-Attach a payment to a registration: We should be able to set a cost for the event and then when someone registers they get an email (automatic or manual) notification about the payment due
-Place within registration for admins to mark items such as permission slips, med forms, etc as completed.

I still see this when I go to the edit event page:

My Calendar (BETA) Edit Event
When someone posts a message on the event, is there a way it flags you that you have a message waiting without having to go into each event checking to see if there are comments?
Also, When I add a website to direct to, it isnt creating a hyperlink. Maybe I am missing something.
And, as Becky requested, since we sometimes have 2 or even three things on the same day, it would be kind of nice to see them all on the calendar.
Recurring events or copy/paste an event. will there be a way to enter recurring events in the calendar so I don't have to add each den each day they meet. We currently have 8 dens and 7 of them (with the exception of our Lion Den) meet every Monday from 6:15-7:30 in different classrooms at the church which is or CO. When I enter the 7 den meetings on the same day, I only see one when looking at the cal calendar.
Within the calendar, it would be helpful to upload documents or pictures to help those who missed a meeting know what to make up.
If recurring event entry and uploading den meeting plans as a PDF to each event already exists, I apologize for asking, but then just need some help / direction where to find the information to show me how to do it.
