If it's been a while since you have logged into Scoutbook, you will be please to know we have released over 100 new features and enhancements since the new year.

Complete BSA ScoutNET Integration

When new packs and troops sign up on Scoutbook they are offered a chance to import their entire roster and advancement directly from the BSA ScoutNET Internet Advancement system.  You can be up and running with Scoutbook in no time at all with this new option.

Scoutbook also generates a ScoutNET file that units can upload into Internet Advancement.  Scoutbook is the only software that syncs belt loops and special awards to ScoutNET Internet Advancement.

Scoutbook is the only software that also syncs all adult training with the BSA.

Track Over 50 Cub Scout and Boy Scout Awards

Here are just some of the new awards you can now track on Scoutbook.  When your Scouts complete these awards they are automatically included in the ScoutNET export file and synced with the BSA!

Send Mass Emails Messaging Feature

Need to send a quick reminder to the parents?  Are you a parent who wants to email a den leader?  Do you have some important last minute information that you need to get out to every member of the pack or troop?

Our new messaging feature can handle all your messaging needs and more.

New Intuitive Top Bar Navigation

Getting around Scoutbook is now easier than ever with our new navigation.  A breadcrumb now appears along the top showing you exactly where you are and allows quick access to go back to any previous page.  A new Quick Nav feature is in the works which will display your top 10 most visited pages.

Manage Permissions with our Connections Manager

Now you can view and modify the permissions of your entire pack or troop with our new Connections Manager. Adults are listed down the left column and your Scouts along the top. Quickly see who has permissions to your Scout records with this new tool that is fully compatible with iPhones, iPads and other small devices.

Features at a glance:

  1. Horizontal and vertical scrollbars support hundreds of columns and rows so you can edit connections from any device with no issues.
  2. Frozen top row and left column while you scroll allows you to see who you are editing even on smaller devices.
  3. Only available to users with the Unit Admin role
  4. Click on individual cells to set permissions
  5. Shows leaders, parents and all Scouts in the unit
  6. We will be using this technology in our report builder so you can edit advancement dates directly from the reports.

Reporting Just Got Better

We've been working on our Report Builder and have added many new features to our Needs Approval and Needs Purchasing reports.

We have integrated these reports into every level of Scoutbook.  Packs and Troops can see the total number of items that need to be approved.  Each den, patrol and Scout page also have their own notification alerts so leaders can quickly see how many Scouts need their attention.

Get Ready for Events and Calendaring!

This April we are hoping to launch our Events and Calendaring module with full integration of Journey to Excellence.

RSVP, attendance, and quick entry are all features you can expect in our new Events feature.  Plan your entire year in advance and let Scoutbook tell you how you will score on your Journey to Excellence. Modify your plans and see your estimated score go up!

Thank you!

We are excited about these new features and want to thank all of you who are supporting Scoutbook with an annual subscription!  We couldn't do this without you.

Can I get someone to reply to my request to load up my scouts into scoutbook? I have about 25 scouts in the requested csv file format that just need to be loaded up so I can get my patrols up and running.

    Thanks!

Our pack just recently changed from pack master to Scoutbook and it was like going from the dark ages into the 21st century. Keep up the great work.

I would also love a feature to track attendance at den/pack meetings.

I evaluated Scoutbook for our troop a few months back. Without the messaging, events (signup sheets), and calendaring, it just wouldn't cut it for our needs. We're currently using Shutterfly for those services even though they're not very good. I'm really looking forward to the launch of the events and calendar because I love the rest of the site.

I know you can Import from ScoutNet, but can you export advancement info (merit badges, ranks etc.) to Scoutnet? I really need the system to be able to do that.

The first test I did with the Messaging feature was a success, with only one concern. I noticed the email the recipient see is from "my name via Scoutbook.com" with the email address for the sender as "info@scoutbook.com". I foresee this as a problem, as parents, etc will likely be replying to these email messages and the sender will not ever see them (but you will be seeing a lot of them coming into info@scoutbook.com).

I'm trying to upload scoutNET files into internet advancement for an LDS Troop and Varsity Team but they have different unit numbers (i.e. Troop is 835 and Team is 6835). The Troop worked fine, but the Team doesn't sync because of the different unit number. Any thoughts on what can be done?

For camping trips where we have to cap attendance we are finding that we have to use another tool, Sign up Genius, which allows us to put a limit on the number of scouts. Would LOVE to do this within scoutbook.
We are creating a second wait list sign up with a cap in case someone drops as well. Would lo en to see both! Otherwise, we are active and loving it

Are there plans to update the quick entry for merit badges? Entering merit badges via quick entry is laborious. Scoutbook doesn't allow you to enter multiple badges with different dates at the same time, besides it kicks you completely out of quick entry every time you hit save. We process over a 100 badges per COH and it is super time consuming to enter into Scoutbook.

    Scout Book
Hi Bonnie. Welcome to Scoutbook! Scoutbook is not meant to be used by only one person. There should never be a time where one person is entering in all 100 badges for a COH when you use Scoutbook. Scoutbook is meant to be used by Scouts, parents, merit badge counselors and leaders. The badge should have been started in Scoutbook by the Scout, his parents or leader. A counselor should have been assigned after the unit leader has talked to the Scout and suggested at least one counselor.

Counselors should have approved each requirement and signed off on the merit badge well before the COH. We place everything that has been approved into a Needs Purchasing report and finally they will appear on a Needs Awarding report. If you use Scoutbook as it is intended there will never be a situation where someone is entering in merit badges for a COH at the last minute.

We continue to make improvements to the site. Your feedback is crucial to us. Thanks for the feedback.

Is the Scoutnet link good for the first connection or can you continue to upload it to scoutbook and the changes made in BSA online advancement be linked to Scoutbook? I was able to import when I created the account, but all the changes I have made at BSA will not import to Scoutbook. I get a popup and flag that says the import was successful, but the changes do not come over into Scoutbook.

    Thanks

All my sub units imported from scoutnet but all as one troop. Should SB have been able to differentiate the team and crew from the troop? Also with the different leader positions for each?

I'm trying to create a report and create list of remaining requirements left for the scouts. Some of the merit badges are showing the 2016 requirements even the scout started the merit badge in 2012 requirements. Any way to change this? This is happening on the camping, cooking and others as well.

Is there a way to pull out a report on attendance at events other than visiting each event in the calendar and manually compiling the information? I would love to have attendance reports for boards of review so the board is aware of how much a Scout is an "active participant" in each rank.
